Introduction to Intarsia Knitting

About this experience

Master the basics of the Intarsia knitting technique.  Often referred to as ‘picture knitting’ intarsia allows you to use multiple colours across a single row to achieve stunning designs with a single thickness fabric.  Intarsia was popularised by designer Kaffe Fassett in the 1980s and is now back as a knitting trend.  We will try different methods to knit intarsia including using bobbins, butterflies and short lengths of yarn to see which suits you best.

 

You Will Need To Bring:
•    1 pair of 4mm knitting needles.
•    3 contrasting colours of DK weight yarn to knit with.  50g balls or decent amounts of oddments.

Skill Level:
You should be comfortable with the following
•    Cast On
•    Knit Stitch 
•    Purl Stitch
•    Cast Off
